Trout Lily

I was surprised to find this Trout Lily yesterday. Spring is just starting to bloom here and I'm used to seeing the Trillium and Blood Root about this time of year but I'd never seen one of these before.

A real quartz crystal is inbedded in the shell of the gourd

Portraits

Jules. The youngest 70ish man I've ever met. Full of the devil and he cheats at cards. Though according to him its not cheating if he doesn't tell you all the rules of the game until after you're ahead on points. When you accuse of being full of something that starts with the same letter as Something he says "Sly?"

This is a portraint I did of him recently. He maintains he's slightly more handsome.

Just Ducky

These things really do seem to have a mind of their own. What started...in my head at least..to be a griffin took a definate turn towards ducky.

Hmmm...Ducky...yeah..that'll work.

Which makes me think about the platypus. A mammal who lays eggs and looks as strange as its name conveys. I'm convinced that the existence of the platypus proves Diety or some sort. In my heathen heart Goddess has a sense of humor. She likes to play. Maybe even her stuff doesnt turn out every time as she planned but she said "Well. I think I'll leave it as it wants to be."
Or maybe she planned it just exactly that way so some of us would notice she likes to play.

Meet Mattie

Mathilda the Hun. Mistress of Zoom, Reprobate, Mattie May and Mattie may not.

The things we do for love

I blame (or credit) my husband. I've always said paint hates me and until I found feather painting that was true. Now Id love to be able to paint wonderful wildlife scenes and I can...with some struggle but its tractors that often find their way on the canvas.
Lee built a pulling tractor out of a hunk of junk he dragged out of a fence row. Looked impossible to me. Years later I can tell an Oliver 88 from a 77 or a John Deere (pictured above) G from an A at a distance.
They say paint what you know..so I do. I know a love for old rusty broken down tractors and the men who fix them.

Notes From the Universe

Todays Note amused me.

Too often, the only difference between HAVE and HAVE NOT depends on whether or not the initial request was followed by a thank you, yee-haa, and action, rather than a question mark, timidity, and TV.
Don't ask. Give thanks. Bust a move.

Cut a trucker some slack

Next time you eat consider that food was hauled on a truck. When you go to bed remember that bed, pillow, and blanket were hauled on a truck. Next time you read a book...craft...put on your makeup...even the very next thing your eyes land on...all of it came in on a truck. We never really think about this. Just seems like that stuff magically appears in the stores doesn't it?

All your "stuff" got there thanks to some guy and yes some women who busted their butts to get it there. Thru bad weather....or good weather when they'd rather be home...on schedule for pay thats considerably less than it was just a few years ago.

Most people cuss the big trucks. They drive too fast..or too slow. They didnt move over when you wanted to merge or they had made a slow..or wide turn in front of you.

These are professional drivers. My hubby has somewhere around 3 million miles under his belt of safe driving. Not many people can say that. So, please cut them some slack. There's one out there who this woman loves and admires. Wave at em..give em the thumbs up...be a little kid and pump your arm...he'll blow the big horn for ya!

Clueless

I really do not know what I'm doing with this thing but everyone's doing it so....also I'm trying to quit smoking and doing anything helps keep my mind off that.

I'm a member of the CForginals yahoo list which is a great list. I've been looking at all the members websites and blogs and...again...trying to keep busy in a lazy sort of way..so

Here we are.

Sally is one of the members who furnished the tutorial for dragons. She has a class at Doll Street Dreamers which anyone interested in should definately check out. I'd post a link if I knew how to do that but if you can find a blog...you can use google and find these things..right?

Dragons

Thanks Sally for the wonderful tutorial.
